Quilt Journal Class

Today was the first session in the Quilt Journal series with Julie Balzer. Julie is a dynamic and motivating teacher. She gathered us together in a circle to get us thinking creatively. Many of the participants have attended her class before. Then we start a series of exercises to help us with understanding the process of designing a journal quilt. I had trouble getting the hang of it until I started talking to Julie about weaving and the weaving community I’m now a part of. We spend the last 30 minutes making cloth beads from fabric scraps. This was a totally illuminating experience. I had a wonderful time.
